This Benalmádena Pueblo monument combines towers, arches and details inspired by several styles. It is a compact, highly photogenic visit that pairs well with a village walk.

Architecture, photography and a relaxed morning.
Good to know
Check current opening times before travelling; the monument is inland from the seafront.

Parque de la Paloma

This broad green space in Benalmádena offers a break from the beach and heat. It works best in a day with short coastal walks.

Puerto Marina Benalmádena

Distinctive architecture, boats, restaurants and an evening walk come together in one place. It is walkable from La Carihuela.

Best for
Evenings, couples, photography and dinner by the water.
Good to know
In high season book a chosen restaurant ahead and arrive before sunset.

YEAR-ROUND GOLF

Golf: Marbella, Benahavís i Estepona

Marbella officially lists 14 courses, while the Marbella–Benahavís–Estepona area offers even more choice. Atalaya, Guadalmina, La Quinta and Los Naranjos can be close to stays on the western coast.

Best for
Beginners, active holidays and players planning several different courses.
Good to know
Autumn, winter and spring suit lessons and play in milder temperatures. Academies, driving ranges, equipment hire and Polish-language lessons are available; book tee times and coaching ahead.

The historic centre, museums, tapas and waterfront make a complete day that is also reachable by train from the western coast.

Culture, food and a day away from the beach.
Good to know
Choose two main sights instead of trying to cover the whole centre and every museum at once.

Mijas Pueblo

White houses on a hillside, viewpoints and winding streets offer the classic Andalusian pueblo blanco experience close to the coast.

Best for
Views, photography and a half-day trip.
Good to know
Arrive in the morning, wear comfortable shoes and use parking at the edge of the centre.

OLD TOWN

The renewed old town leads through white façades, colourful flowerpots, squares and short walks towards the sea. It is best explored without a rigid route.

Best for
A relaxed walk, photography and lunch in town.

Combine the old town with the promenade; in warmer months walk early or late.

Marbella i Puerto Banús

The old town, Avenida del Mar sculptures and Puerto Banús marina are only the start: Marbella also offers long beaches, chiringuitos, a coastal trail, the Artola dunes and Sierra Blanca trails.

Best for
Architecture, art, beach, nature, food and a full day of walking.
Good to know
Split the day between the centre and Puerto Banús, or pair the old town with the beach and dinner. Leave the La Concha trail for a separate day and match it to weather and fitness.
